International Documents

International Statute (IS) and International Rules (IR)

The IS and IR are the primary documents of the Association which govern all National Sections, the Permanent Executive Bureau (PEB) and International Commissions.  Matters requiring longer explanation than can reasonably be contained within the IS and IR are provided for by way of Directives.

Directive for International Commissions

The International Commissions are supporting bodies of the Permanent Executive Bureau (PEB).  This Directive covers working methods, reports and responsibilities of the individual International Commissions.

Directive for IPA Houses

This Directive explains the requirements and minimum standards expected of a property in order that it may be designated as an IPA House.  Other properties may be operated by IPA Sections independently of this Directive, but such properties are not officially recognised.

Directive for the Foundation and Affiliation of National Sections

This Directive is primarily designed to assist those persons involved in establishing a new IPA National Section, either as a Founding member of that new Section or when acting as a Sponsor Section.  It explains the requirements for each stage of the process, covering such matters as Foundation Procedure, Sponsor Section, Recognition and Affiliation and outlines the responsibilities and expectations of all parties involved.

Directive for Travel and Accommodation Expenses

More of an internal document, this Directive covers the criteria of, and documentation required for, claiming expenses when travelling on Association business.  It governs all International bodies, whether travelling as a group or individually, including delegates to World Congresses (WC), International Executive Council (IEC) conferences, Permanent Executive Bureau (PEB) and International Commissions.  Where necessary, maximum allowances are stated in the document.

Directive for the Conduct of Meetings

The basic procedures and restrictions to be followed during meetings of World Congresses (WC) and International Executive Council (IEC) conferences are contained in this document, including Chairmanship, Motions and Voting.  The matters covered in this International Directive are often utilised in National Directives for governing national meetings.
