Location:
St Andrews, a Royal Burgh, is situated in the north east
of Fife. Renowned as the Home of Golf, it boasts several
excellent courses, most famously the Old Course, but St
Andrews in known for more than the game it gave to the
world: with it's cathedral and castle, it was once a
major centre of Scottish religious life.
There are two award-winning beaches, both having earned
the coveted Blue Flag, a Sea Life Centre, Leisure Centre
and delightful small harbour.
The University at St Andrews was founded in 1813 and is
the oldest University in Scotland and third oldest in
the UK. It was named "Best University in Scotland" by
the Sunday Times in 2003, though it is probably more
famous for its recent royal student, Prince William.
St Andrews also boasts an impressive Botanic Garden
where around 8,000 species of ferns, herbaceous plants,
shrubs and trees are grown.
The IPA flat is within a short walk of all these
attractions, as well as the town centre, spread out over
three delightful tree-lined avenues with a wide variety
of shops.
